Watch Out For Fake Computer Virus and Malware Alerts

There are a lot of chatter on the Internet about computer viruses, malware and other invasive ‘bugs’ that may be causing you computer programs. Some of these products have even taken to the airwaves and advertise their product through warnings and cautions forewarning about the evidence of these programs existence on your computer. The warnings claim that the slower performance and diminished operation of you computer is caused by some invader that can be cured simply by a visit to their website for a free scan.

Be aware! Some of these programs are legitimate but others are simply a ploy to gain remote access to your computer’s operating system or your saved files.

This ‘tech support scam’ has been around for some time overseas but is becoming apparent in North America. The rip off begins with a call from someone pretending to be associated with a legitimate software company or computer manufacturer. These people are sophisticated and knowledgeable so they are quite convincing when they say that there has been a problem detected with your computer. They instruct you to visit a website to download a file that will fix the problem. What the file actually does is open up remote access to your computer. This exposes your files, passwords, online accounts and any other sensitive files such as tax forms and employment information.

Potential victims are usually found by simply using telephone directories or sequential-dialing programs that just increment a phone number by one until they reach a real person and the pitch begins. They will sound very convincing about your potential problem even though they will use generic terminology. For most computer users, this will be enough to convince the targeted victim that there is a problem and will be open to free assistance.

Don’t fall for it! Seniors and older persons living alone seem to be the ideal target for these scumbags. If you have an elder parent or relative that is an Internet computer user, be sure you alert them to this risk. Watch for these signs:

The warning they will describe a potential problem with your computer performance or a security flaw. This will come in the form of an email alert that looks professional or from a phone solicitation. The best way to avoid the threat is to just delete the email or use caller id for incoming phone calls; if you do not recognize the caller, let your answering machine take the call. These scammers rarely leave a message so that is a sure sign to just ignore the call.

As a side note, if you ever do pick up on an incoming call from an unknown caller, listen carefully when you pick up. If you hear a ringing sound upon picking up, this indicates an automated dialing system that is ringing for a live telemarketer to pick up the call and begin their offer. Just hang up.

Remember, if you have taken the proper steps to protect your computer with the appropriate virus and spyware protection, you will receive a warning from your computer that an update is either available for you to download or it has been processed automatically for you, depending upon your preference settings.

Remove Malware Defender 2009 – Powerful New Tool Removes Malware …

If you are frustrated and have been unable to remove Malware Defender 2009 from your computer, I can certainly empathize with you because it is one of the more pervasive and dangerous spyware threats that is finding its way onto computers worldwide. And while many spyware removal tools have been unable to completely get rid of it, fortunately there is a relatively new tool that has proven to be very effective at removing Malware Defender 2009 – and it can do so in minutes.

Malware Defender 2009 is another program in what is now becoming a fairly long list of rogue antispyware programs designed to trick you into purchasing bogus software by constantly drowning your computer with fake security alerts and malware scans.

But the impact of this rogue program goes beyond simply trying to scare you out of money.

If you are infected with it, Malware Defender can also have a significant impact on your computer’s performance, cause any number of blue screens, freezes, errors or crashes and if left untreated, can even lead to your computer becoming unusable.

Most worrisome, however, is that the program will also attempt to steal your personal information by monitoring and logging your computer and internet usage.

All of this being said, the most important thing you can do is figure out how to remove Malware Defender 2009 from your computer, and do it quickly.

Unfortunately, the program is very intelligent and can evade detection from many of the top spyware removal tools removal and manual removal is near impossible because it hides itself deep within your files and registry by placing random files and entries that make it difficult to know whether or not a file is legitimate or infected.

So if manual removal is not an option and it can evade detection and removal by most top antispyware software, how can you remove Malware Defender 2009 from your computer?

Thankfully, there is a relatively new and highly sophisticated spyware removal tool available that can remove it with just a few mouse clicks.

The only thing you need to do is run a full system scan and once the tool finds all files and entries associated with Malware Defender 2009, you simply click on "Clean" and within minutes the tool will have this nasty rogue program completely off of your computer.

Don’t let your computer be ruined or your personal information be compromised – remove Malware Defender 2009 now before it’s too late!

Altogether, they fall into the category of Malware. They’re annoying, at minimum and destructive at maximum. The main reason they exist is to get information from you, from sites you visit for advertising to getting your credit card or bank information.

The System Security is fairly pesky and difficult to get rid of. It pops up in your toolbar, without having been added, and then threatens you with pop-ups that (ironically) warn you of infection.

There are several steps you can take, but beware of anti-spyware Trojans, which will just multiply the problem. Research the sites carefully before downloading or ordering. Some quality programs are: Malwarebyte, Ccleaner or Kaspersky. They may take some time in checking your system and still might not find all infections.

You could also try resetting your computer to a previous time, though you have the possibility of losing any information you’ve added since that time. The last method I’ve found is to reboot the system, and put it on safety (by pressing f8 continuously) and manually sifting the programs for a code: 18061862.exe, but if you’re not exactly computer-literate, you should take it to a specialist.

Most importantly, after you’ve got a clean computer, update your anti-virus programs and firewalls. Don’t vicariously open shifty pages or emails. And always look both ways before downloading free software.

Malware Defense is a fake antispyware program designed to scare you into believing your computer is infected with viruses and malware. It is promoted by Trojan viruses and malware websites. In particular, Malware Defense is closely associated with the virus Trojan. FakeAlert and is a variant of the AntiMalware spyware. Once installed, this rogue program will automatically perform a fake security scan whenever Windows is restarted; this fake scan will indicate that your computer is infected. Then, Malware Defense will prompt you to purchase a full version of it in order to remove these threats. Do not fall for this scam; you need to remove this spyware from your computer before any significant damage can occur.

The fake report will mention that various viruses such as Backdoor.Win32.Agent.ich and Virus.Win32.Gpcode.ak have infected your computer files. Some of these computer files maybe actual Windows system files. Do not attempt to remove these files; doing so can render your computer unstable. Besides the fake scan and report, Malware Defense will also produce fake system security alerts such as:
There is unauthorized antivirus software detected on your computer. It is recommend you to remove it, otherwise it could conflict with Malware Defense. Press ‘OK’ to terminateOther alerts it will produce in order to scare you into purchasing a full version is that Internet Explorer and Windows Messenger are infected with malware. Like the fake scan, these alerts are all fake and should be ignored. Malware Defense may also disable your firewall and antivirus software making your computer vulnerable to more dangerous threats. Therefore, removing this spyware is important your computer’s security.

If you are familiar with deleting files and editing the Windows registry, then you can perform a manual removal of Malware Defense. You can do a quick search on the Internet to figure out what files and registry keys need to be deleted. The problem with manual removal is that it is time-consuming and if you make a mistake, your Windows operating system may not boot-up anymore. A safer and quicker removal method is to use a real antispyware program. A genuine antispyware program will find the spyware infection and effectively remove it from your system. In addition, your computer will be protected from future spyware infections if you use a real antispyware program.

Do not wait for your system to be further compromised, Remove Malware Defense Now! Once your computer is infected with this spyware it is crucial to remove it as soon as possible.

Do you want to know where you can get malware remover software downloads online? Even though there appears to be a lot of malware remover software available for download online, you need to be careful as there are some that are spyware themselves and disguise themselves as remover software.

1. Will a Malware Remover Software Download Work for Your Computer?

Most malware removal software are able to clean systems that are Windows based like Windows XP, Windows 2000 and 98. Windows based operating systems have been found to be very vulnerable to malware, so you should run scans on your PC regularly to keep it safe if it is Windows based.

2. Where Can You Get Malware Remover Software Downloads?

There are many of such software available for download on the internet today. The best ones are programmed by reputable PC security companies that specialize in making computer security programs.

3. How Do Malware Remover Software Downloads Work on a PC?

The software will immediately notify the user when something suspicious is about to be downloaded or is accessing the computer.
4. How Do You Know if Your Computer is Infected by Malware?

GroupHappy MSN Virus – What You Need to Know

Several people on my MSN Messenger list contacted me about "GroupHappy spam" messages that they had recently started receiving from me. According to them, I had been sending repeated MSN chat messages, inviting my friends to check out a website called GroupHappy which helps guys enhance a certain body part with the help of pills with "natural ingredients" that were available for FREE. All my friends had to do was pay the price of shipping and they would receive a bottle of "ViagPure" pills to try out.

Sounds good right? Well, here is the not so good part.

The thing about this GroupHappy MSN message is that after you click on the link that says "GroupHappy.com" (highlighted in blue), someone could get access to your MSN Hotmail (Windows Live Mail) email and password. This is even more likely if you have ever used a web-based MSN client such as eBuddy, meebo, koolim, etc. I doubt many people know how this really works but it has been widely speculated in the past couple of years that this is how the Acai Berry malware ads were spread. The same method is being used for the new GroupHappy MSN campaign which is promoting these ViagPure pills for male enhancement.

Although it is not known for certain if the hacker gets access to your email and password, what is known for certain is that after you click the GroupHappy.com link, the automatic bot (spyware/malware) infects your hard drive with a virus and makes changes to your registry files. This causes pre-written messages to be sent automatically and on a periodic basis to all the people on your MSN contact list, whether your are online or offline.

And the worst part is, you have no idea or clue that you have been sending tens or hundreds of these GroupHappy messages to your MSN friends. You remain completely unaware of it until maybe one of your friends tells you about it.

In order to stop spamming all the people on your MSN contact list with these Group Happy spam messages, the first thing you should do is change your email password. Then tell all your friends to keep an eye out and let you know if they get any GroupHappy MSN Virus message from you. If a couple of weeks go by and nothing happens, all should be good.

However if your MSN account is still sending GroupHappy scam messages to people on your contact list, the best thing would be to download MSNCleaner which will scan and clean your PC for free. It detects all sorts of malware, spyware and viruses spread by MSN spam and will effectively remove and delete the GroupHappy virus from your computer.

Weapon of Choice – Spybot Or Malwarebytes Anti-Malware?

Ask yourself how do you feel about sharing your browsing patterns with unknown parties. Do you have any personal information on your computer? Are you willing to waste some of your computer resources on displaying intrusive advertising on top of your open applications? How about letting your Internet connection slow to a crawl, while some malicious software harvests your e-mail address book?

If computer viruses started with experiments and proof of concept programming in universities, there is no doubt the plague known as malware in present times was designed from scratch for malicious purposes.

Viruses achieved their goals by spreading and going out of control in the wild. The number of infections was considered a measure of their success. Malware is not the result of implementing biology principles in software, but rather a vicious set of tools designed to pry on large numbers of computer users, steal their data and not last, manipulate their perception.

Faced with the losses generated by malware, the public is entitled to demand why the IT&C industry and the authorities tolerate the situation. The companies leading the antivirus scene felt entitled to enter the malware removal market by simply extending their existing products. Different approaches to reach a solution are tested, with various degrees of success.

Some of the best programs to fight malware are free – this way their creators can avoid being portrayed as the fathers of the very same threats their security solutions are designed to remove. Among the leaders in fighting malware, SpyBot S&D and Malwarebytes Anti-malware are two well-known names that have been known for long to offer their products free of charge.

Installing any of these applications on your computer confronts you with the different approaches taken by their authors in designing tools fit for the same purpose.

There are four main aspects required to differentiate between competing anti-malware products: the list of malware signatures used for detection, the speed and accuracy of the removal and the presence of maintenance features like realtime prevention and scheduled updates. Minor aspects can also be taken into account – like the interface, the documentation or the localization.

SpyBot S&D goes a long way in offering you advanced tools to control the programs launched into execution automatically at startup and even the possibility of screening the registry for orphan entries. SpyBot S&D is completely free and integrates all features one would expect from such a tool.

Malwarebytes Anti-malware provides what is regarded as probably the most up-to-date signatures database on the market. They collect millions of reports, analyze the adware/spyware and implement automated removal in their application in record times. Malwarebytes are addressing both the end-user and the corporate environment. They offer the scanner/remover tool free of charge, but keep the advanced options available only in a paid, full version.
Purchasing larger orders of Malwarebytes Anti-malware, even without a Malwarebytes coupon code, entitles you to a saving of about 10%. It does not sound impressive in itself, but such volume discounts are another proof of Malwarebytes trying to position their product in the corporate computer network, besides the millions of individual home users.

Choosing SpyBot on the money argument alone can be tempting at this stage. But Malwarebytes still has the upper hand in terms of performance, frequency of update releases and the endorsement of corporate customers.

Avoid a new purchase with SpyBot. For speed, go with the full version of the Malwarebytes software. Before you complete your order, you can try to save on your acquisition with a Malwarebytes coupon code already tested by other readers. In this brief review I did not have the opportunity of analyzing the business practices behind malware and the threat they pose to any Internet activity in general. If there is one thing you should take from this quick comparison, it is the importance of taking action as soon as you detect an infection and even pre-emptively, to prevent it from happening in the first place.

If you have landed at this article then the chances are high that you are looking for a free malware removal program which can eliminate some malicious infection on your system. Malware is defined as malicious software and because it is a form of a trojan horse, virus, worm and crimeware it is very dangerous and is fully capable of destroying your entire operating system in short time. Either this or it will take control and corrupt targeted components in a subtle way which will leave much instability to the point that you can no longer operate programs and tasks.

But how will I know if I am indeed infected with malware? Well, typical symptoms or effects of such a malicious infection include system rebooting, security tool disabling, hard drive content removal, gaining remote access, causing internet crashes, using up bandwidth, disabling task manager, reducing overall system speed and causing great instability within your operating system. So how many free malware removal applications are there to choose from and which one would be ideal for a person to use in order to completely remove these infections? The answer is none. Just about every PC security application on offer today will cost you money but this is not a bad thing because it ensures quality and reliability.

If you are able to stumble across a free malware removal tool you should avoid downloading it because there are many rogue or fake PC security programs out there that will destroy a system if used. This is a fact and this is why more and more people are starting to use paid tools because they also offer important features which are not offered by free programs which include signature updates, great support and reliability. So don’t spend any more time looking for free malware removal software because you now know the consequences you could face if you use them.

Help my computer is infected with a virus. You hear this nearly every day from your friends and office colleagues. Computer viruses and spyware are unfortunately widespread and are part of our everyday lives. The best way to avoid or at least minimize the chances of your PC getting a virus is to install some antivirus software. Some of the best performing and most effective free antivirus applications include:

1. AVG Free Edition – The program has an easy to use interface which enables you to perform a virus scan with ease. By default, it is configured to perform a daily virus and malware scan, which is a highly recommend task that all Internet users should do. It features daily automatic updates to ensure the program is aware of the latest virus or worm that has been released on the Internet. Overall, it is simply a great well designed antivirus application.

2. Avira Free Antivirus – This program features a nice interface and includes automatic daily scheduled virus updates and scans. The simple user interface makes scanning of your PC system easy and effective. You can schedule when the automatic scans occur and its real time scanning keeps you safe from all malicious email attachments. This is a great software package which I highly recommend.

3. Avast Free Antivirus – With this latest version, the developers have updated the interface into a slick looking, easy to navigate software tool. It features a super fast real-time antivirus and antispyware scanning engine. The developers have made this version a more light-weight program, meaning that it uses less of your PC’s system resources. After you have downloaded it, you can run it for up to 60 days, and then you need to register your free version. Overall this new version has a nice professional interface, from a software vendor with a long history in the Antivirus market.

4. PC Tools Threat Fire Free – PC Tools have a very good name in Internet security products, and this free Antivirus software package is no exception. It features a nice, simple to navigate user interface and has the usual automatic updates, and real-time scanning of virus and spyware. This software tool is somewhat different from more traditional antivirus software packages in that it takes a more pro-active approach to virus threat detection. Threat Fire pro-actively scans for suspected virus activity before the virus actually strikes or infects the PC. This is an excellent feature for an antivirus program and it does this without using much of the PC’s resources. Overall, it is as good choice, if you want to take a more proactive approach to virus and spyware detection

5. Panda Could Free Antivirus – Panda Cloud is a relatively new software product and it designed to run mainly of Windows Net books and the so called thin client PC’s. Due to the growing popularity of Net book style laptops, a free antivirus product like this is very much needed. The main problem with running traditional antivirus software on Net books, is that due to their limited CPU and hardware performance, they can at times run somewhat slow. This is where Panda Cloud comes into its own. Although it lacks some of the features of other antivirus programs, it is a good choice for this next generation on Windows Net books.
